GRAY IRON CASTING EXPERTISE AT EVERY STEP
From an initial call with your casting engineers through the casting simulation process, Charlotte Casting is your single source for high-quality, custom castings. Continuous investment in the latest casting technology has made our foundry one of the most modern in the world. Our wide range of molding machines and core equipment allows us to match a variety of casting designs and launch multiple projects at once.
Molding
Our advanced green sand molding machines are perfect for your medium- to high-volume gray iron casting requirements. We feature three DISAMATIC D3 molding machines, offering 21" × 25" flaskless molds and delivering exceptional performance with a throughput exceeding 500 molds per hour. For larger casting needs, our HWS molding machine, with a 32" × 50" flask size, operates at a rate of 120 molds per hour, ensuring efficiency and quality for every project.
Machining
Our equipment includes two horizontal CNC milling machines with tombstone fixtures, which are ideal for precision machining of high-volume parts. We also have CNC lathes for cylindrical parts such as wheels, valve cylinders, and more. Our industrial drill presses are ideal for accurate drilling of mounting holes and other features.
Melting
Charlotte Castings’ efficient production is assured by our 60-ton-per-hour electric-melt system, and our Hot Metal Carrier overhead crane system, where iron is automatically dispersed to production departments as needed. Our DISAMATIC casting lines are equipped with VISIPOUR® vision control technology systems to keep up with higher-capacity mold production.
Pattern Shop
Our in-house pattern shop provides complete control from start to finish on your new design. Our design technicians can work with you to optimize the casting design and determine the best molding line for production.
If you have existing tooling, our range of production equipment allows you to move your casting to the optimum molding line that fits your work. We will evaluate your tooling when we receive it and work with you to ensure the most cost-effective solution.
Coremaking
Charlotte Casting has the flexibility to incorporate either the shell core or the isocure process into your project. Our equipment includes Shalco U 180, Shalco U 360, B&P 5 FSP 10A, Laempe L-25, and Laempe L-50 machines.
Quality Control
Our rigorous quality testing and ongoing process improvements have helped us achieve ISO 9001 certification. We continually monitor iron quality through spectrographic analysis. Our in-house lab allows us to check tensile strength and perform hardness testing and micro-structural evaluation. We then check and verify dimensional accuracy to ensure that casting dimensions conform to customer specifications.
